Title: The Bright Blue Mixture Another year started at Hogwarts. Harry Potter was especially pleased
to get away from the Dursley's once more, and start his sixth year. As
he arrived at the train station, he met up with his best friends, Ron and
Hermione and waved at them. "Mine was alright, apart from Fred and George almost blowing up the kitchen. Well we better get on the train before we miss it." said Ron Weasly. They grabbed their bags and boarded. It was a long trip. Thankfully, they had each other to talk to. Then Draco showed up with his two goons Crabe and Goyle, passing by Harry's train cabin. "O goody, another year with Potty and Weasel. How exciting. Just wait Potter, after uncovering my father, you will be sorry you came back to Hogwarts." "Piss off Malfoy, the only thing I'll be sorry for is having to listen to a git like you making stupid remarks all year," retorted Harry. That shut him up. Draco walked away steaming. "Blimey Harry, you're getting braver, standing up to him like that," said Ron. "Well I can't stand Draco any longer, especially now that I know that his father helped Lord Voldemort kill my parents. It makes me sick that I have to even share the same school with them," replied Harry sourly. The rest of the train ride was more peaceful. When they arrived at Hogwarts, the three friends filed into the great hall. The first years were busy being sorted to their houses. Harry, Ron and Hermoine sat quietly at the Gryffindor table until the food appeared. Harry was starving, all he ate at the Dursley house was whatever leftover in the fridge he could find. Hermoine sat there reading a book while she ate. Ron ate as if there was no tomorrow, even though his mother was an excellent cook. With full stomachs, the three of them settled into the Gryffindor wing and unpacked their belongings. It seemed like second home to them by now. Ron and Harry shared a dorm as usual, while Hermoine was on the other side sharing hers with Ron's sister Ginny. Harry finished unpacking last and went down to the common room to meet up with Hermoine and Ron. They were busy talking about their upcoming classes. "Well, I have decided to take advanced potions this year on top of my regular potions class this year." said Hermoine proudly. "Are you MAD?! Another class with that god-awful Snape?" shrieked Ron. "Actually yes, I am advanced with all of my other subjects, and Professer Snape has agreed to give me extra lessons. Maybe you should try it someday." she smirked. "I'd rather not thanks," replied Ron. "Being in the same room with that slimy git for one class is already too much for me." "Well, at least it's only for an extra hour. Besides, I don't think he's exactly thrilled about me staying later in his class anyways. Well, as much as I would like to stay and chat a bit more, but I have some studying to do, tommorrow I have a busy schedule. Good night boys." she picked up her books and went to her dorm. In the dungeon of the castle, Snape was busy setting up his classroom. Thankfully, the house elves had cleaned the classroom and the adjoining office for his use again this year. They had also stocked his cupboards with most of the ingredients he will need that year. He noticed some of them will have to be purchased in Diagon Alley. Not a problem, he could apparait there and get the nessesary items he was missing over that weekend as they were not crutial yet. God, he thought. Another year with insolent students that couldn't tell the difference between mermaid scales and a gecko's tongue. And why did that insufferable know it all Granger had to take extra classes with him. As if she wasn't unbearable enough. I'll have to at least give the girl credit, seems like she's the only one of my students that is actually capable of understanding the delicate art. Snape figured he would have to at least attempt to encourage her work. The next day Snape was clearing desks of spilled liquids from the previous class when Hermoine walked in, obviously eager to start her new lesson. "Miss Granger, what I am about to teach you is normally reserved for seventh year students or beyond. I will require your full attention." he snapped as he finished. "Yes Professor. I will do my best." was her quick reply. She whipped out a parchment and took notes that he began to write on the blackboard. "I expect nothing less, especially coming from you." he hissed. Then thought to himself, As long as she is to take lessons from me at her at her own will, I might as well behave in a civil manner towards her. After class, Hermoine went up to her dorm. It had been a long day. But at least her first extra class with Snape went somewhat smoothly. She hoped that the rest of the year would be the same. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX A few days went by. Ron and Harry wanted nothing to do with Hermione's extra class. Ron was beginning to like the idea of having Hermione not breathing down their backs while they did their homework. Hermoine tried to hang out with them every minute she could. It wasn't easy between her lessons, but she figured a little time is better than no time at all. It was becoming obvious that they missed hanging around her though. Harry in particular was upset by Hermoine's lack of time to spend with them. After his godfather Sirius Black got killed, he seemed more down than usual. It was to be expected, he had only known Sirius for a short time, but they had built quite a strong bond in that two years. "Besides, Harry, Professor Lupin is back as the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. I'm sure you can talk to him if you feel down about Sirius." she offered. Harry and Ron took Hermoine's advice and would spend the time away from Hermoine with Professor Lupin, whom had recently returned to Hogwarts. Lupin would tell stories about him and Sirius when they were younger. It felt good for Harry to be able to talk about his godfather. And it took his mind off his lack of contact with their friend as of lately. Hermione continued to stay an extra hour after school to take her advance potions class with Professor Snape. She was taking a fancy to advanced potions. After all, it was one of the most difficult classes there were, and it required excellent coordination and and quick mind to be able to handle the different ingredients at the right times. On the other hand, she was also beginning to enjoy the company of Snape. He was patient enough to teach her and that made her want to learn more. What is coming over me, she thought, I actually LIKE going to Snape's class? Oh well, he is a good teacher, and he seems not to mind teaching me. She figured it would be best not to bring it up with Harry or Ron, they would just laugh at her. One day in mid September, Hermione came to her after school potions class like usual. Her and Snape were getting along better recently. As she sat down, He had the ingredient list and instructions already copied on the blackboard for her lesson. It was for a draught used for sedating dragons. After gathering what seemed to be an impossible list, she let her cauldron simmer a bit, then began adding the grated death root to her potion accordingly. But the smell was overwhelming. It made her head spin. She suddenly became glassy eyed. "What are you looking at Miss Granger?" Snape snorted, raising an eyebrow. "Mmm..."she mumbled. Her head fell on the desk. Snaped walked up to her. "Is something the matter?" He shook her arm. She was out cold. Then he noticed the smell coming from her cauldron. In a flash, he reached in a drawer for a small bag of silver powder. He lightly sprinkled some on her nose. Hermione snapped back to reality. "What? Huh? Did I miss something?" "You need to lay down." He helped her to a couch in his private office in the back of the classroom, away from the pungent odor. It was slightly uncomfortable, but she layed down anyways. Snape brought over a steaming cup. "Drink, it's water laced with wakeup powder." he said, "it will help you feel better." "Shouldn't I see the nurse? I mean...I feel dizzy." she stammered "It is a side effect of the potion's fumes. It will wear off soon. I don't like to send students to the nurse if I don't have to, it's a waste of time." he said matter of factly. She slowly sipped the cool liquid as Snape sat on the edge of the couch. As she looked up at him, she noticed his eyes. They were no longer the eyes of a strict potions master. They became eyes of a concerned man. As she drank, she noticed Snape rubbing her shoulder. It felt comforting. "Professer," she began. "I didn't know you could be so kind. Thank you." "I can be kind, if I have a reason to. You are a top student and I don't want to see you missing any of my lessons." He replied, still massaging her shoulder. After a few minutes, Hermoine sat her empty cup down on the small end table. Indeed she was feeling better. As she gazed up at Snape, something came over her. She leaned forward and began to kiss him. Snape was at first shocked, but succumbed to it. It was a feeling he had never experienced. Lust. He wanted more. He swiftly unbuttoned her robe. She made no move to stop him, only continued kissing him, her hand slowly making its way down his his front and into his trousers. Her robe unbuttoned, he threw off his own robe and began to undo his pants, pausing only to flick his wand, shutting the door and closing the drapes. He gently caressed her soft skin, stopping to cup his hands over her breasts. How wonderful they felt! Slowly he had a finger wander down to explore. Hermoine lay there biting Snape's neck lovingly while Snape slipped his finger inside her her delicate body. She moaned with excitement. That curious finger was soon replaced by a hard cock. With the momentum building, sweat began forming on his brow. Suddenly, Snape thrust himself into her as hard as he could, spilling himself inside her. He let out a low grunt and collapsed beside Hermoine. After a few moments of laying there, they both quietly cleaned themselves off and got dressed. Hermoine left Snape's office to go hang out with Ron and Harry. They both noticed her unusually good mood. She brushed it off, saying that her potions class was better than usual, meaning not as many satanic glares from Snape. Ron laughed. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX The next morning, which was Saturday thankfully, Hermione came to reality of what had happened. Oh my god, what have I done? she thought. This was serious, if anyone found out that she had shagged a teacher she would be expelled for sure. Then another thought came to her, what if she got pregnant from it? It was the right time in her cycle for it to happen. No, she was going to do something about it. She ran for the library. Ron and Harry found her in the restricted section a few minutes later. "What are you doing here, we wanted to know if you would be interested in taking a walk to visit Hagrid." said Harry. "I have some studying to do, I will catch up with you in a bit, ok?" she quickly replied. "Does she ever get tired of studying?" asked Ron. "This is Hermione we are talking about, studying is her life," replied Harry, as the two of them left the library. Whew, they are gone, thought Hermione. She found an dusty old book that would be some use. The book was small, so she hid it in her robes and left the library to head for her bedroom in the Gryffindor wing. Once there, she was relieved that there wasn't another person in sight, so she lay across her bed and scanned through the book. Surely something would be useful here. Then she saw it, a page on how to make a potion for the "morning after" to prevent conception. The bottom part of the page was torn, and most of the words were barely clear enough for her to read through the smudges. But it was her only chance she had. She couldn't just go confess her worries to Snape. "Wow, this potion is complicated, It will take most of the day to brew it." she said outloud. Thankfully there was no one to hear her at the moment. For the next hour, Hermoine went gathering the ingredients. Luckily, Snape had let her borrow some of the more trickier items for other potions as homework. Harry and Ron were busy playing Quiddich. Good, it will keep them out of the way. Once she had her ingredients, she packed her backpack and headed for the girls lavatory. It was the one that Moaning Myrtle haunted, so she knew she wouldn't be disturbed. She carefully lay the different ingredients on the floor, and started. It took the better part of an hour to grind, chop, boil, and mix the numerous items. What she was doing was difficult to say the least, and the torn off part in the page and the smudges made it hard to understand part of the potion, but she was sure she got it right. Down the hatch. It tasted awful, but she managed to drink it all anyways. Now the only thing there was to do was wait and see. She packed her items up and left to catch up with the Ron and Harry over at Hagrid's hut. On the other side of the castle, Snape was busy making notes for his next class. Suddenly, he felt a sharp, quick pain in his lower abdomen. Brushing it off as gas, he continued his work. While at Hagrid's, Hermoine dared not tell them what happened yesterday though. In fact, her friends were noticing that she was unusually silent. "Hermoing, you alright? You seem to have something on your mind," asked Harry. "N...nothing. I'm just nervous about my upcoming tests, that's all," she said. In truth, she felt scared. What if the potion doesn't work? What if Snape gets mad at her for what happened. Too many questions. She decided to pay a visit to Snape later to make sure he wasn't angry about it. Meanwhile, she tried to enjoy herself among her friends. That evening after dinner, a knock came on Snape's door. "It's open," he snarled. Hermoine walked in. "Sir, about yesterday..." she began quietly. "What happened between us, happened. I unfortunately cannot make a potion to go back and change it, Miss Granger," he said quickly. "I just wanted to say, we have no feelings for each other, so um...let's not let this happen again." she said. "I will agree," Snape smirked. "I would advise you to not to let this information leak out, the last thing I want is that nosy Potter to find out, or his red headed twit of a friend." "Promise," she agreed. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX A month and a half later, Snape was sick again, as he had been all week. He cradled the toilet in his private lavatory. It was a horrible feeling, every time he got out of bed, every time he moved to quickly, every time he ate something he felt queasy. He didn't want to see Madam Pomfrey, she would probably laugh at him. He instead dismissed it as the stomach flu. Surely that was what caused him to feel so terrible. Still, the back of his mind told him that something wasn't quite right. Standing up, he drank some anti nausea potion, hoping that would settle his stomach. He had a class with the fourth years and double potions with the sixth years today, he didn't to lose control of himself again. Snape decided to take it easy today, he wouldn't walk around too much as that tended to make him dizzy. Striding into his classroom, he quickly wrote the day's lesson on the blackboard and sat down at his desk. Hermoine was back to her usual self by then. She had almost completely forgotten about the incident...until she walked into Snape's potions class with Harry and Ron later that day. Snape was sitting at his desk, waiting for the class to shuffle in. Once the room was full, he stood up to begin his lesson. But he stood up a little too fast. "I expect all of you to get this potion right, it will be on your next test." he said in an acidic tone. Then he stopped. His face began to get a greenish hue to it. "Excuse me," he choked, and ran out of the room, clutching his stomach. This caused an uproar with the class. "Is he sick?" someone asked. "He probably was sniffing too many of his potions again," chuckled Draco Malfoy. The students sitting around him laughed. Hermoine and her friends didn't find it very funny, least of all Hermoine herself. She had a gut feeling it had to do with the morning after potion she made. But what could have gone wrong? Perhaps it backfired somehow, causing a weird sickness. God she hoped she was wrong. Harry glanced at her, she looked pale. "Everything alright Hermoine?" he asked, slightly concerned. "Yeah, just worried about Snape, he's been acting weird like this lately, I hope he's not coming down anything." she quickly replied. Ron cheerfully stated, "Well, if he keeps this up he will have to be sent to the hospitol wing. A few days without Snape is fine by me!" A few minutes later, Snape slowly walked back into the room. "Where was I...this potion will be on your next test." He shot an icy glance at Neville Longbottom, whom looked very nervous. "Pardon me sir, but this is the fourth time this week you have gotten sick in class, are you alright?" asked Harry. "Five points from Griffyndor for speaking out of line Potter. And yes, I'm fine, simple case of the stomach flu." retorted Snape. The rest of the lesson went without incident. After class, Hermoine began to worry. She still had a couple hours before her advanced potions class, so she dove herself into her work until then. Transfiguration was semi-interesting. She learned how to turn a bowling ball into a bird. And charms class wasn't that bad either. But when it was finally time for advanced potions, she ran to Snape's classroom. He was correcting parchments at his desk and took no notice of her at first. "Sir, I am here for my class." she said. Snape gathered his parchments up and set them aside. "Where is your homework assignment?" he hissed. "Before we get to that Professor, I wanted to ask how you were feeling. I mean, Harry was right, this is the fourth time this week you have raced to the lavatory. I'm getting worried," she said. "My health is none of your concern Miss Granger, shall we begin the lesson?" he shot back. "Well sir, it actually is my concern, because it might be my fault." she spoke softly. "What do you mean 'your fault'? Explain yourself." Snape was getting curious, and that was not a good thing. "After our...incident, I brewed a potion to make sure I wouldn't get pregnant. I didn't think about it until you started getting sick. I am afraid that the potion went wrong somehow." Hermione was getting uneasy. "If you wanted to do something like that you should have checked with myself first, I AM your potions master after all." he raised an eyebrow. "What potion did you make?" "It was a morning after potion, designed to prevent conception," she muttered. Snape reached for a book on the shelf behind him and opened it. This copy was much cleaner and easier to read than the book she had borrowed from the library. He handed the book to Hermoine and she flipped to the page she used. This book had the whole page and it was clearly written. "Oh, the book I borrowed from the library didn't have this part, it was torn off." She said, as she began reading it. "Lastly, place two finely chopped stalks of Magerose in the potion and mix twenty-four times clockwise. Failure to add Magerose could result in a number of side effects to one or both partners, including purple skin, hair loss, or even rarely, the other partner conceiving, regardless of gender." "YOU DIDN"T ADD THE MAGEROSE?!" boomed Snape. "I thought I had taught you better you witless girl!" He was furious. "Sir...that part was ripped from my book. I figured it was a footnote or something...I didn't mean..." she sobbed. This was not happening. He pulled out another book and opened it on the table. Finding the ingredients he wanted, he mixed together a quick potion. "Excuse me, I will return momentarily." With a flip of his long robes, Snape stormed out the door with the flask he was holding. A minute later he came back, shaking, his face white as a ghost. "Professor, what's wrong? Is there something I can do?" a look of fear came to her eyes. "N...nothing." Snape stuttered. He placed the flask on the table and stared at the bright blue mixture with the look of horror on his face. Hermoine looked at the book beside the flask. What he had made was a simple pregnancy test...and it was positive. Professor Snape was up the duff. Knocked up. Pregnant. "I will have to abort it," he managed to say after he found his voice. Hermoine was beginning to sob again."No you can't, you just can't! I won't let you kill it, it's just as much mine as it is yours, and I say NO!" "Nonsense, at the moment it is nothing more than a tiny blob, it doesn't even have a heartbeat yet," Snape retorted. "Please don't, I promise we can make this work, I don't want to kill it." she was crying frantically now. "I will give it some thought, in the meantime, open your book to page three hundred twenty eight. I want you to memorize that list for tomorrow's class." She did as he instructed, still silently crying. He sat back down in his chair. What was he going to do? This could ruin his career, no, his life. But as the other parent she did have a say in the matter. He weighed the pros and cons of aborting the child. What if it made his life better instead of destoy it? What if this was his only shot at becoming a parent? He gave out a loud sigh. Yes, he would keep it, but that girl damn well better know that he would be the one to take responsibility of the child after it's born. And she better not give him any lip about it. "I won't abort the child." he said after what seemed like forever. "But I expect you to keep this confidential. I will also be assuming custody of the child after it is born." Hermoine jumped out of her chair. "Really? Oh I'm so glad! And I promise to keep it secret." "You're dismissed. I have a lot on my mind right now." He leaned back in his chair and placed a hand over his forhead. What was he getting himself into? For most of the rest of the day, Hermoine spent her time in the library. She found a lot of medical books. Looking through them, she was desparate to find any information about male pregnancis, but she only reached dead ends. One book however, did give her some good advice for morning sickness, so she shrank it and placed it in her pocket for some reading later that night. By the time she was able to read that night, the dorms were full of students winding down for the night. She luckily conceiled the cover of the book with a spell, making it look like a boring magical theory book. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Hermoine decided to try some of the "remedies" she found on Snape over the next week. The one that did work was peppermint tea. She soon noticed that Snape was having peppermint tea with every meal and sometimes during classes. One other thing that concerned her was Snape's appetite, he was not eating very much, probably because he felt sick most of the time. During her advanced potions class, Hermoine had to wait for some toad warts to simmer. She might as well ask how Snape was doing. "Horrid. Among other things, I can't go anywhere without feeling like my stomach is going to turn inside out and my clothes are becoming too tight." he said miserably. "Well, a simple stretching charm should work on your clothes, although they can only stretch so far." She tapped his trousers and his shirt with her wand. They stretched to the point where they were slightly loose, making Snape more comfortable. "And I know of another charm that will hide your growing waistline. NOTISSA MEENOTO!" He felt a tingle for a second, but when he looked down, he seemed thinner. "Five points to Gryffindor," He figured she needed to be rewarded for easing his discomforts. Hermoine grinned. She said, "I know that this must be a difficult time, preparing to be a father and all. Don't worry though, I'll see to it that you stay in good health. I don't want my child to get hurt." She bent down and gave a quick kiss to Snapes belly. Just then, Headmaster Dumbledore entered the room and stopped dead in his tracks. "Well, Professer, I wanted to talk to you about something...but I think we should talk about something new now." He looked at Hermoine, still leaning over. There was no hiding it, he knew something was wrong. "Headmaster, Miss Granger was simply concerned about my health, I have been under the weather lately." Snape quickly said. "I believe that having a student kiss a teacher's stomach is not a remedy for any known sickness." Dumbledore stated. Snape was right, they were caught. "Dumbledore, sir, I can explain," Hermoine started, but was cut off. "Headmaster, do not blame Miss Granger, I am at fault as well," Snape interrupted. He told Dumbledore the whole story. Dumbledore sat quietly, listening. He made no expression. "Well, Severus, are you aware of the policy regarding teacher-student relationships?" Dumbledore asked after Snape was finished. "Please Dumbledore sir, It was a one time thing. Professor Snape and I have no feelings for each other. I merely want to help take care of the child now." Hermoine insisted. "I share no affection for Miss Granger," Snape spat. "Very well, I will assume this was a single incident and leave it at that. Miss Granger, I would like to see you not going to advanced potions class anymore though, we cannot afford any more...misshaps," Dumbledore replied. "Headmaster, if I may, considering my current condition, I will be unable to create or handle certain potions or ingredients. Perhaps Miss Granger would still be of some use. She is one of the few competent enough to handle them safely, and I can still guide her without putting myself at risk," Snape offered. Dumbledore thought on it. "Yes, I believe that can be arranged. Miss Granger, that shall take the place of your advanced potions. What do you say?" asked Dumbledore. "Sir, I would very much like that," said Hermione. And it was so. Hermoine would become Professor Snape's personal aid after classes, instead of taking advanced potions. "Now go child, I want to speak with Professor Snape privately. We have matters to discuss." Dumbledore said gently. Hermoine packed up her belongings, covered her potion for the night, and left. Dumbledore didn't look pleased with Snape. "Severus, I want you to be aware that male pregnancies are rare and potentially dangerous. Now I'm sure Miss Granger would have to agree that you should be seeing a trained mediwitch throughout your pregnancy to check your progress. I will have to inform the staff of your condition as well." "Headmaster, I don't want Poppy breathing down my back to take medications nor do I want the other teachers thinking I'm some sort of carnival freak," Snape insisted. "Not to worry Severus, I will ask the staff to treat you with respect. I will not inform them of what had caused your interesting ordeal. That is my final word." Dumbledore stated. He was not going to change his mind on it, so Snape had no choice to agree to his terms. "Well, it's late and we have a supper to go to. I will see you then." with that, he left Snape alone with his thoughts. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Hermoine seemed happier when Dumbledore told the staff after supper. It felt as if one of her burdens was lifted. She still didn't want Ron or Harry to know. And Snape seemed to summon her at the oddest of times. After a while, her friends grew curious as to where she would run off to occaisionally. She was doing something other than advanced potions with him. Was Hermoine having an affair with that slimy Snape? They had to know. Harry decided to meet up with Professor Lupin, at least it would give him someone to talk to about, maybe give him the answers he wanted. Lupin sat down to meet the boys in the great hall. They sat in a corner of the table so they wouldn't be overheard. "I'm getting worried about Hermione, she's always leaving us in a hurry to go see Snape and she seems to be hiding something. We thought...maybe...she was having an affair with him," said a concerned Harry. Lupin laughed so hard he almost spat out the milk he was drinking. "Oh Merlin no! Can you even imagine your friend falling for someone like that? Someone twenty years older than her? I'd rather thought she would be hooking up with someone more around her age." Lupin lowered his voice. "Hermoine is Snape's personal assistant while he does some research." "But why does she have to hide it from us? We are her best friends, what is so important about this research that she doesn't want us to know?" questions Harry had bottled up were now surfacing. "This is confidential, so all I can say is that Professor Snape is doing the research on himself. Because of this, he can't come in contact with certain potions or herbs, so Headmaster Dumbledore chose Hermoine to assist him instead of taking her advanced potions class," he lied. Lupin knew about what really happened to Snape, but he was sworn to secrecy, as were all the staff. And it pained him not to be able to tell Harry. "Look, I'm sure that Hermoine wants to tell you, but please don't try to drag it out of her. She has been going though a lot of stress recently and has been rather edgy about it." "Professor Lupin, I just hope that Hermoine isn't hiding anything from us. We want to be able to be there for her." Ron chimed in. He too, was concerned about his friend. "Don't worry Ron, If I knew anything was going on, I would most certainly tell you two boys first. I intend to keep a close eye on Professor Snape as well. Now, did I ever tell you about that time when James and myself were in our fifth year and we hung Professor Snape up by his robes over the Quiddich field?" Lupin started the story to get the boys mind off Hermoine. When Harry, Ron, and the rest of the school was in bed for the night, Lupin decided to visit Snape's office. Snape was in front of his mirror with his robe off, trying to get a good look at his waistline. He looked up at Lupin. "God how absolutely horrid I look. Do you have any bloody idea what this is doing to me?" he growled. Lupin tried hard not to laugh. Must be hormones, he thought. "Severus, I'm sure that after the birth, you will gain your thin figure back. In the mean time remember that you're eating for two and that's how you should look," Lupin said amusingly. "Now I did want to see you for a reason. Harry and Ron confronted me today after classes. They wanted to know what you and Hermoine are hiding. They seemed to think that you both were having some sort of affair together. Now I told them that you were conducting research on yourself and Hermoine was just helping you with your classes. That satisfyed them for the time being. But I will warn you that just like James, Harry has a knack for sniffing things out. It would be wise if you not call for Hermoine so often, it's raising more than one suspicion." "If Potter wants to believe in ludacris ideas that is his own right. If they are so persistant on knowing what is going on with me, make something up to explain my unusual eating habits. A weight loss potion perhaps. And I agree, I will stop calling for Miss Granger so often," he said, brushing it off. "That is also what I wanted to ask. After talking with Harry, it's gotten me curious as well. And I've noticed the way Hermoine acts around you. Call it a hunch, but I could swear that she was involved with your accident," Lupin knew that he was walking on glass. "It seems that not only the Potter bloodline has an affliction for needing to know the truth. This is not to leave the room, understand?" Snape eyed him, but his emotions began to surface. "You are indeed correct, it was a one time affair with Miss Granger. I...I've never had anyone...touch me like that before. We both couldn't control ourselves and one thing led to another. The accident was caused by her making a morning after potion, but she had made it incorrectly, causing this." He held up his shirt and vest, exposing his bare stomach, which was just beginning to grow. "I never knew that about you Severus." Lupin was almost at a loss for words. "You have my word I won't tell a soul. But I still have to wonder, do you still have feelings for her?" he asked softly. "No. Is there anything else you wanted Remus?" replied Snape, obviously uncomfortable with the question. "Yes, I'm running low on my wolfsbane potion. I will be needing more soon." said Lupin. "I will have to have Miss Granger make the potion as wolfsbane is one of the herbs that I cannot handle in my current state. Aside from her working her way under my skin, she is becoming fairly skilled at potions and I have confidence that it will be made correctly for you." he retorted. "Well, it has been nice chatting Severus, but I really must get to bed. You should too, and don't worry about your body or mood swings, Madame Pomfrey has already told you that they are only temporary. You will be back to your sour old self in no time," Lupin cheerfully said as he closed the door. Snape, after putting his night robes on, went to bed. What happened was a one time occurance, right? Unnless she wanted more than that. No, why would she want him, a greasy potions master who has never even had a girlfriend before. He dismissed the thought and fell asleep. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX November was over and Christmas was on everyone's mind. Students were making regular trips to Hogsmead while the staff was decorating for the coming holiday. One Saturday, Harry, Ron and Hermoine were in the Gryffindor common room talking. "Honestly Hermione, how can you stand being near that greasy git?" said Ron. "It's not that bad, and I'm learning loads of stuff," replied Hermione. That should settle his curiosity. She knew that Ron wanted nothing to do with learning. "But Hermione, since you have been spending your afternoons with Snape, it's been cutting into our time to hang out with you, are you sure you still want to continue doing this?" asked Harry. "Besides, what if Snape wants you to get involved with the research yourself. We don't want to bother you about it, we just want to make sure you won't hurt yourself." Lupin had explained to Hermoine a while ago what he had told the boys to keep them off her back. She agreed that it was a good story. "Look, if Snape wants to use himself for a research subject, that is his decision, I'm just helping him with the items he can't safely handle, that's all." At the moment, she really didn't want to talk about it, it was too risky. "We just don't want any of Snape rubbing off on you or something, he gives us the creeps." said Ron. That statement made Hermoine's stomach turn. In reality, she thought to herself, it was some of HER that rubbed onto HIM, or rather, inside him. "I'll agree with that Ron. I don't like even coming within ten meters of him! Look, why don't we go to Hogsmead, then we can do a little shopping as well as hanging out ok?" she suggested. "Good idea, we kind of missed your birthday," said Harry. "Don't worry about my birthday, my parents sent me enough presents," shrugged Hermoine While at Hogsmead, they wandered into the Three Broomsticks where they enjoyed some butterbeer together. Then Hermoine decided to go into the robe shop. "Does she really need more robes? Women, honestly!" huffed Ron, as him and Harry went to Honeyduke's across the street. Nonsense, Hermoine thought. A few minutes later she came back out with two large boxes and met back up with Ron and Harry. Ron had bought a ton of chocolate frogs, while Harry got himself some new armpads for Quiddich, as well as a present for Hermoine. They returned to Hogwarts that afternoon and Hermoine opened her present. It was a book on advanced potions and charms. Hermoine loved it, she could never get enough books. She missed being around her friends, and vowed to hang out with them more. At least they weren't bothering him about her helping Snape. The boys had mentioned getting some Quiddich practice in before they had to leave. So Hermione made her way up to the owlry. She had written a long note to her parents, giving false reasons why she needed to remain at Hogwarts. In truth, she didn't want to leave Professor Snape alone, lest he do something he would regret. After the owl flew away with her letter, she decided to go to Snape in his office. "I'm busy," she heard Snape snarl. "Professor, it's me," she answered. "Then you may come in, but close the door behind you," said Snape. She came in, careful to shut the door behind her. Snape was spread out across the large burgundy couch, sipping his tea. Once he saw her, he sat up to make room for her to sit down. "I have finally found a book on magical male pregnancies," he stated. "According to this book, there have been only about twenty or so reported cases in this last century, and most of the poor bastards died giving birth or had a miscarraige. It also says that extra precautions should be taken as the male body is not designed to carry a child. For Merlin's sake, why the bloody hell did this have to have to happen to me? Is the Dark Lord trying to punish me somehow?" "Don't worry, you will be fine. I came to let you know that I will be spending my holiday here at Hogwarts to help you. My parents already agreed that it would be best, although they think it's so I can study harder. And no, I don't think you are being punished, I think it's more of a blessing." she said cheerfully. "Well, this 'blessing' as you call it, is driving me mad. Between the mood swings and regular visits to the lavatory, I'm at my wit's end." His stomach grumbled, and he replied by rubbing it. "Could you open my drawer there and hand me a few teacakes?" Snape replied. Hermoine reached in his drawer and inside was a box of teacakes. She handed him a few and within seconds they were devoured. She pulled the rest out of the drawer and set them on the small table beside him. "I assume you are beginning cravings? Just make sure that you eat healthy." she giggled. "I will eat what I feel like eating." he said with his mouth full. Hermoine stood up. "Well, I need to be off, I just wanted to check up on you." With that, she lay a soft hand on Snape's slightly bulging waistline for a moment, and left to go find her friends. They were just packing their stuff up when she stopped by. "I just wanted to wish you both a Merry Christmas. I will be staying here for the holidays so I can do some extra studying." "Later Hermoine, I hope that you don't study too hard," said Harry. "Yeah, it's Christmas, enjoy it!" added Ron. And with that they were toting their small suitcases out the door and onto the train. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Chrismas had finally arrived. It was lightly snowing outside and Hermoine woke with good spirits. She walked down to the common room and began to open her presents. From Ron, she got some candy and a book on rare magical artifacts. From Harry it was a pair of silver hoop earrings and a matching silver necklace. She put on the jewelry and decided the book would be good for some light reading later that day. After opening the rest of her presents, she went back upstairs and god herself dressed. She had someone to see. Pulling out the boxes she purchased at Hogsmead, she took them to Professer Snape. He was once again in his office drinking tea and eating cakes. She came in and cheerfully exclaimed, "Merry Christmas!" Hermoine was holding two large red ribboned boxes, with a gold namecard labeled 'To Professor Snape'. Snape looked at her. This was not what he expected. He almost never got presents. Hermoine pushed the boxes in his lap, begging for him to open them. "Are you...sure?" he stuttered. She laughed. "Open them!" He pulled the red ribbon off one and opened it. Inside lay a set of nice black robes, in a large enough size to accomidate his growing belly. The other box contained two pairs of trousers, both of which had a hidden elastic waistband in the back so it wasn't noticible. Also a couple of dress shirts and vests, exactly the type he normaly wore, only larger. "I had to have them all special ordered. I hope they will fit." Snape just stared, he didn't know what to say. Finally he managed a "Thank you," and pointed to a small green wrapped present on his desk. Hermoine picked it up. "For me?" she asked. Snape nodded. She unwrapped the present and found a beautiful set of quills made from hippogryph feathers, along with a silver ring with ivy leaves encircling it. "Oh thank you so much!" she exclaimed. She practically leapt in his lap and hugged him. "Your welcome. The ring has a charm on it. If I ever need help, it will glow red, the brighter, the more urgent." She placed it on her finger. It fit perfectly. Hermoine sat down beside Snape. As she sat down, she absentmindely stretched her arm around him. At first he gasped, then relaxed. Then, she raised her hand and slowly ran her fingers through his shoulder legnth hair. It didn't at all feel greasy. It was surprisingly soft and silky instead. Then she looked down. Hermoine couldn't help but be in awe at the sight of his small bulge. Somehow it made him seem more sensitive, more human. Snape turned towards her, about to say something. Insead, she began kissing him with her soft supple lips. He caressed her jawline with his long fingers and pulled his tounge into her mouth. How sweet he tasted! The viper like tongue that can send teachers away crying and students wetting themselves was just as clever when inside her mouth. It was like an addiction, she couldn't seem to get enough. Then, it happened. Bump bump. Snape felt something strange in his abdomen. He pulled back and shot Hermoine a funny look. "You ok?" she asked. "A strange light fluttering in my stomach. What the hell is it?" "It's the baby kicking for the first time, how wonderful!" she beamed at him. Then she paused. "It's early to feel it though, but you are so thin to begin with I suppose." "Great, all I need among other things, a child that won't hold still," he said sarcasticly. Bump. Snape lay his hand on his slightly rounded abdomen and began to rub it tenderly. The fluttering slowly stopped. "I suppose it won't be so bad though, at least I know it's alive." "I wonder if it's a boy or girl." she said dreamily "I'd rather wait until it's born to find out." he said. She started to lean into him again, wanting to give him more pleasure, but had to turn her down. No, it was too much, too fast. He wasn't supposed to give in to his hormones. "Now if you mind, may I try on my new clothes in private?" Hermoine decided he was right and nodded, shutting the door and walking to the great hall for something to eat. Hermoine was sitting there eating a slice of apple pie, when Lupin sat beside her. "Hello Hermoine." "Hello Professor Lupin. You will not believe what happened today. Professor Snape felt the baby for the first time. He said it felt like a light flutter inside him," she said excitedly. "How wonderful! I expect Professor Snape will be working you to the bone no doubt using it as an excuse." Lupin said jokingly. "I'm improving in my potions making, so he's allowing me to make some of his seventh year class ones. Oh, that reminds me, I made another six month supply of wolfsbane potion for you, I'll have it delivered to your room within an hour," she stated proudly. "That wolfsbane potion is perfect timing, cuz i'll need it in two days time. I'm glad that you are getting along with him, it's best for the baby's sake." he winked. Hermoine blushed. "He also gave me this," she held up her hand, showing off the silver ring. "If he's in trouble it will glow red. I guess he figured that he has been calling for me to much recently and this was a better alternative." "Finally that sourpuss has a good idea, a nice discreet way of telling you that he needs help. Well, I'm getting rather hungry, so I will see you later. Merrry Christmas." Lupin said as he got up and walked over to the teacher's table. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX It was a Sunday in mid January and the students were long back from their holiday. Ron, Harry, and Hermoine were at Hogsmead for the day, stocking up on various prank items and candy. Snape had to apparaite to Diagon Alley for some shopping. He also needed to get away from the curious stares that students have been giving him lately. Entering the Apocothery store, he was met by an old wizard behind the counter. "Professor Snape, welcome back. What can I help you with today?" said the aged man. "Here is my list Mr. Tanree. Can you double wrap them this time?" The old wizard glanced at him curiously. "I have caught a slight cold, and don't want to contaminate them. You know how sensitive some of that stuff is." was Snape's cool reply. "I'll also throw in some decontamination powder for your hands." The man found the various items around his store, noticing some of them were slightly odd for the professor to be asking for. He then carefully placed each of the requested items in a flask or wooden box and then into a large bag. "That should be sufficient as I normally just wrap them in parchment. Be careful, some of these things can have some odd side effects, I assume that you are experimenting again?" Snape gave a quick nod, not wanting to tell the old man that he needed those for his prenatal potions he was taking daily. "Very good, anything else you need sir?" "That will do for now. I will come back if I need to." Snape said, handing the wizard several galleons and leaving the store. He had just gotten back onto the street when he ran into someone unexpected. Lucius Malfoy. "Ahh, Severus, how good it is to see you." Lucius said, his voice filled with false emotions. "Out of Azkaban so soon, Lucius?" Snape replied, raising his eyebrow. "My family is more than financially able to request another court hearing. Might I ask how it is that you didn't get caught at all?" Lucius questioned. "I had a few escape routes preplanned." Snape said coldly. "I am hoping that your loyalty is where it should be Severus. The Dark Lord does not take kindly to traitors." Lucius said dangerously. "Why don't we head to the Leaky Cauldron and discuss matters over a glass of brandy?" "Some other time Lucius, I have some potion ingredients that are time sensitive." was Snape's slick reply. "Odd, you have never turned down a good drink before. Is there something you are hiding Severus?" Lucius asked, his eyes narrowing. "You very well know I have nothing to hide from you, Lucius. Like I said, I have items here that are time sensitive. Now if you would excuse me, I have to get back to Hogwarts." Snape hissed. He hoped that Lucius wasn't going to pursuit the idea any further. He didn't want Lucius to find out his secret. He also knew he couldn't drink in his condition, it would poison the baby. "Remember Severus, the Dark Lord has future plans for us. But then I'm sure you'll be ready when the summons come." Lucius said wickedly as Snape turned and strode off. Back at Hogwarts, Snape paced in his office. What was he going to do if he was summoned in his current state? What would Lord Voldemort do to him once he found out? His head began to spin. Conjuring a cup of peppermint tea, he continued with his thoughts. There was no use worrying about something he had no control over. Hermoine never took off the ring that he gave her. If something were to happen then she would instantly know about it and hopefully had enough brains to call for help. Suddenly, Snape felt a wave of dizziness fall over him, and only remembered to aim for the couch as he fell over. A couple hours later he woke up to find Hermoine and Lupin hovering over him and a cool wet cloth over his forehead. He began to sit up, but she held her hand on his chest, easing him back down. "You have a small fever. Professor Lupin carried you to your private quarters." she said soothingly. "Thank you," he said weakly. "Severus, what happened? You looked pale as a sheet and were boiling to the touch when we found you." said Lupin. "Shall we call for Poppy?" "No, I just need rest." Snape said. "If you need anything, don't be afraid to ask. We are here to help you, remember?" Hermoine said with a hint of worry. "I do have a task for you Remus. I need you to give an urgent message to Dumbledore for me," he began. Lupin looked at him eagerly. "Tell Dumbledore that Lucius Malfoy is out of Azkaban awaiting another court hearing. I ran into him at Diagon Alley. I suspect something will happen in the near future and I want him and the rest of the Order to be ready just in case." Lupin nodded, understanding the seriousness of the message and swiftly left to find Dumbledore. "Sir, you don't think Lord Voldemort will summon you, do you?" Hermoine began to lose the color in her face. "Surely you can't answer his summons in your condition, Dumbledore wouldn't allow it!" "Enough Miss Granger, I will deal with that problem when it comes up. Until then, let me sleep," Snape moaned. Hermoine sulked out of the room and within minutes Snape was out like a light. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX January was over and it was close to Valentine's day. And Snape had his prenatal checkup due. He held a hand around his belly as he walked towards Hermoine's classroom, robes billowing behind him. He was regularly feeling the baby kicking away like crazy inside him now, it made him feel rather giddy. Hermoine was just ending her charms class when Snape walked up to her. "Come with me, I need your assistance," was all he could say to Hermoine in front of her friends. She gathered her schoolbag and began to follow him down the corridor towards the hospitol wing. Harry and Ron looked at each other. Something was up, and this could be their only chance to find out what Hermoine had been hiding. Luckily, Harry had his invisibility cloak in the bottom of his schoolbag. When no one was looking, he draped it over himself and Ron and they silently followed Hermoine. Once they entered the hospitol wing, Snape and Hermoine went to an enclosed room that was charmed to be soundproof. Harry and Ron snuck in behind them and entered just before the door closed. Dumbledore was there with Madam Pomfrey and Professor Lupin. Ron and Harry stood in a corner, silently watching. Snape wasn't comfortable with the idea of Lupin being there, but he figured that the werewolf had an instinct to want to protect him, as he was constantly hovering over him as of late. "Severus, I need you to disrobe and lay on the bed please." said Pomfrey cheerfully. Snape did as he was told. Pomfrey began to wave her wand over him, checking his heart, blood pressure, temperature, and other vitals. All seemed normal. Hermoine was standing beside the bed and watching. Then Pomfrey said something that caught Harry's attention, he nudged Ron to listen. "Now then, did you want to find out?" she asked. "No," was Snape's simple reply. "Very well, I won't tell." Pomfrey said a strange incantation and waved her hand over Snape's womb. "Oh my...we have TWINS! And they both are healthy! Congratulations!" Everyone in the room was shocked. Snape fainted. Hermoine jumped up and down excitedly. Lupin gasped. Dumbledore gave a quiet smile. Then came a "Blimey!" from the back of the room. Everyone except Snape, who was still passed out, spun around. Hermoine instantly knew who that was. She grabed a handful of invisible cloak and pulled it off the boys. "How dare you! What is wrong with you two, can't keep your noses out of anyone's business!" She was steaming. "Explain yourselves NOW!" Ron looked like he was going to cry. Harry decided to talk. "We were...worried. We didn't know why you wouldn't tell us...we're sorry." was all he could manage. Just then, Professor Snape came to. "I'm sorry Poppy. I don't think I heard you correctly, did you say twins?" he stammered. Madam Pomfrey nodded and smiled. Then he saw Harry and Ron. His face grew red with anger. "And what the bloody hell are you two twits doing here! GET OUT! GET OUT NOW!" He bellowed as his heart began to pound in his chest. The twins were squirming around inside him, reacting to his outburst. "Severus, you need to calm yourself," began Dumbledore. "I will see to it that Mr. Weasly and Mr. Potter are given the appropriate discipline. Rest now, and congratulations" He led the two boys out of the room. Snape layed back down. "Now that Mr. Potter knows, I suppose the whole school will find out." Snape thought his luck couldn't get any worse. "I'm sorry Professor, I tried to hide it from them as well as I could, I should have known they would use Harry's invisibility cloak." Hermoine started to cry. Lupin tried to comfort her. "Don't be sorry, I knew about Harry's gift for finding things out, I should have confiscated that cloak long ago," said Lupin. "Anyways, no use crying over it, We have other things to take care of now." Snape said as he lay a slender hand on top of his unborn children. They began to calm down. "I guess your're right. But don't expect me to forgive them anytime soon. What they did was totally uncalled for." Hermoine said as she wiped her tears. Meanwhile Harry and Ron were being led to Dumbledore's office. "What made you think that it was acceptable to follow Miss Granger into the hospitol room? I was under the assumption that you boys were growing out of your mischeif making habits." Dumblodore said calmly. Ron still stood silent. Harry thought it was better that he did all the talking anyways. "You see sir, we were worried about Hermoine. I wanted to make sure she was ok." said Harry. "I understand your concern with Miss Granger. However, you have violated Professor Snape's privacy, and that cannot be tolerated. I will have to give you one week of detention after school with Mr. Filch. It is true though, we cannot hide Professor Snape's condition for much longer I'm afraid. I will have to make an announcement to the school. In the mean time, both of you are sworn to secrecy. I cannot have you starting rumors before I have a chance to address the students, or afterward either." He shot a stern look at Ron, who was still clammed up. "Sir, who is the other parent, I mean, is it Hermoine?" asked Harry bravely. "You can be sure your friend is merely looking after Professor Snape's well being. It was myself that chose her as his personal assistant until he is ready to give birth. I figured she has the most common sense of anyone and would make sure that Professor Snape was well taken care of when not seeing the nurse." Dumbledore had partly lied. He didn't like lying, but he also didn't want the boys to know that their best friend was soon to be a mother. "Now if you would excuse me, I have work to do." XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Professor Snape was none too happy about Dumbledore wanting to announce his condition the next day at breakfast. Why can't he just leave me in peace? Why did he have to complicate things? His mind was racing. "Headmaster, are you sure the students can handle this? My condition is a rarity, even among the magical world. And I'd rather not have a hundred rumours floating around on how I became knocked up." he said as the students were fileing into the great hall. "Nonsense Severus. I will explain as much as I can safely, leaving the other parent out of it." He gave a quick glance at Hermoine, taking her seat at the Gryffindor table. "Besides, that notice-me-not cham is beginning to fade. I find it rather cute." Dumbledore patted Snape's belly affectionatly. One of the twins reacted with a small kick. "Feisty little ones you have in there. Perhaps future Quiddich players," he chuckled. Snape rolled his eyes in disgust. After all the students had taken their seats and quieted down, Dumbledore clinked his glass with a spoon to get their attention. "Attention students," began Dumbledore. "I'm sure that most of you are wondering why Professor Snape has been acting a little oddly. I would like to announce that Professor Snape is expecting twins June fourteenth. Although it isn't common, but there have been pregnant wizards on record. Professor Snape, however, is the first wizard on record to carry twins that we know of. It happened by accident involving a complicated potion. I will not give any information about the other parent. That is Professor Snape's business and none our own. I have asked Hermoine Granger a while ago to become Professor Snape's personal assistant during the length of his pregnancy. She is NOT the other parent, I can assure you. She will simply be assisting with potions as well as other tasks that Professor Snape is unable to do. I will remind you that Miss Granger is not to be bothered with questioning. Thank you and have a wonderful day." Snape stood up in acknowledgement. Then his face turned a sickly green and his legs buckled underneath him, causing him to collapse in his chair. Lupin looked at him with worry. "Severus, are you alright?" he asked. "Bloody...morning sickness..." Snape murmured. He flicked his wand and a mug of steaming peppermint tea appeared before him. Lupin looked confused. Sipping slowly, he explained. "In most cases, morning sickness dissapears after the first trimester, but I get to have the joy of keeping it." He took another sip. "Now, if you would excuse me, I need to lie down for a bit before classes start." With that, he stood up, more slowly this time, and quietly walked to his room. Poor Hermoine seemed to have everyone ask her questions. Who is the other father/mother. What kind of accident happened. Why she was chosen to be his assistant. She brushed most of the questions off saying it was none of their business and she was his assistant simply because she was chosen by Dumbledore. Inside, she secretly hoped that no one would find out the truth. At least Harry and Ron weren't bothering her with questions. She still was not talking to either of them. A few hours later, Hermoine was shuffling into the potions classroom along with the rest of the sixth year students. As each of them took their seat, a cauldron of strange orange liquid sat bubbling in front of them. Then Professor Snape strode into the room with one hand cradling his now showing belly and the other arm moving as he walked. "If I catch anyone making fun of my condition in any form or way, they will be skinned alive and hung out to dry." he sneered. The students looked nervous. "Now, in front of you is a potion. By the end of class I expect you to hand in a parchment explaining what it is, the ingredient list, and what the side effects are. Miss Granger, since you were kind enough to brew the potions for me, I do not want to hear a word escape your mouth. Am I clear?" The entire class nodded and started to work. It didn't take long before students started exchanging whispers. Draco whispered to Blaise, "So, who do you think is the other parent?" Blaise gave a smirk. "Probably Filch, he's almost as mean," he whispered back. Both boys silently laughed. Hermoine wasn't pleased. "Don't be stupid Draco," she hissed quietly. "You know Professor Snape isn't a homosexual." Unfortunatly, Hermoine had spoken too loud. Snape slammed an empty teacup on his desk. "Miss Granger, my office, NOW," he growled. Hermoine stood up and walked to the office in back of the classroom. Snape followed her, looking back at the class and snapped, "The rest of you, back to work." With that he slammed the door shut. With the door closed, Snape stared at Hermoine. "While I appreciate you defending my dignity Miss Granger, I remember telling you to keep your mouth shut." He lowered his voice. "Now kiss me." Hermoine wasn't expecting him to say that, but she began to kiss him anyways. Snape embraced her and kissed harder. God she felt so good against him. But he had the class to get back to. Snape pulled away and said, "I still have a class to teach, maybe some other time." Hermoine nodded and smiled. She returned back to her seat, pretending she had come out of a hard lecture. The remainder of the lesson was quiet. That "some other time" Snape was talking about turned out to be later that afternoon. Hermoine, after preparing some semi-dangerous ingredients for the next day's class, walked into Snape's office. "I'm done, is there anything else you need?" she asked. A pregnant Snape was in his usual spot on his couch with a stack of essays he was reading through. Snape waved his wand over the couch and it stretched width wise to accomidate her. "Yes, sit." She did what he asked. He placed the papers on the table. Snape looked into her eyes. How beautiful they were, he never noticed them before. Suddenly, the urge came over him again. He must have her. Now. Snape grabbed Hermoine and pulled her to him. She threw her arms around him and smothered him in mind numbing kisses. Clothes quickly came undone and heaped onto the floor. Hermoine ran her hand up and down Snape's chest. Apart from his rounded abomen, he was a thin man, but his muscles were well toned under his smooth skin, making him surprisingly attractive. He pulled himself on top of her deliciously feminine body. It begged him for sex, and he gave no refusal. He carefully spread her legs and thrust himself inside her. It was more akward this time with his growing belly in the way, but he managed to let loose a final grunt and pumped her full of his seed. Bliss. Snape carefully lay back down beside her and the both of them fell asleep in each other's arms. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX It was late that evening when Hermoine woke up. She was still stark naked, and cold. She cast a cleansing charm on herself and the still sleeping professor and got dressed. Just as she was about to leave, Snape groaned and woke up. "Wait," he said. She stopped. "I thought there was nothing between us," Hermoine said. She sounded ashamed of herself. "But I couldn't help myself. Am I mad?" "No, you are not mad," he replied. Getting dressed, he spoke again, more sternly this time. "Now then, before you leave, let me show you the correct way to make a morning ofter potion." After the potion was made and consumed, a very tired Hermoine made her way to the Gryffindor wing. She bumped into Professor McGonagall in the hallway. "What are you doing out at this hour Miss Granger? The rest of the Gryffindors are asleep in their beds," she said tartly. "Professor Snape had me work extra hard today, I had to make some potions for his storage," she lied. "Very well, but I will have a quick word with Professor Snape. I don't want students working this late at night, you both need rest, especially Professor Snape. I'm afraid his pregnancy has taken a lot out of him lately." McGonagall replied. As Hermoine slowly walked to her dorm, McGonagall went straight to Snape's office. He was still there, finishing the last of his paperwork. "Severus, a word with you," McGonagall said as she came in. "While I understand Miss Granger is helping you with the work that is too dangerous in your condition, I must ask that you send her to bed at a decent hour. I had the opportunity to run into her on her way back to her dorm and she looked worn out." "I needed her to make some potions for me to place in storage. My cupboard was running low," he lied. Thankfully, it was the same lie that Hermoine gave just minutes ago. "I can assure you this would be the only time I needed her assistance this late." "I should hope so Severus. The rest of the staff is becoming concerned. I've seen more than one student step out of your class on the verge of crying. I can only hope that you keep your anger in check and not let your raging mood swings get the best of you," she said in a none too nicely. "That is also why I needed Miss Granger to stay behind, she has found a draught that lessons my mood swings. I have recently been under a lot of stress. Now, if you will excuse me, I need some rest. My body can only endure so much throughout the day." he said as he cupped his hand over the babies inside him. McGonagall whisked out of the room, and Snape made his way towards his own bed. As he lay down on the green silk sheets of his bed, he stared up at the ceiling. Was he going mad himself? Why can't he control his sudden urges? What is it about Hermoine that he finds appealing? A million questions raced through his head. He looked down at his swollen self. Inside him were two new lives growing and developing. They depended on him, relied on him. "It's alright," he said soothingly, massaging his belly. "I won't ever let anything happen to you. Ever." These children needed a mother, and Hermoine seemed to be the only choice. At that moment, he knew his life would change forever. With his mind made up, he rolled onto his side and was soon silently snoring. Hermoine was having similar thoughts across the castle. What made her so attracted to the potions master? Does he share the same feelings towards her? Would she be allowed to see her children after they are born? The children. How wonderful it was to her to be able to call herself a mother. Then she had another thought. How will she tell her parents, she was only sixteen and not even out of school yet. She had plans to go to wizard college after she was done at Hogwarts, surely it wouldn't shatter her plans, would it? No, she thought. It wouldn't. And she wouldn't tell her parents, at least not yet. She decided that the rest of her thoughts could wait until morning. Within minutes, she too, was asleep. Valentine's day was on Saturday. Hermoine showered and got dressed. She walked down to the common room. Harry was there, talking to Ron. She stopped and looked at them. Harry stood up and spoke. "I know it was a while ago, but I still feel really bad Hermoine. I mean, your right, Ron and I shouldn't have snuck into the hospitol behind you. We're very sorry." "It's all behind us now Harry, I forgive you." She gave him a small hug. "Just don't do it again, Professor Snape was extremely upset and I don't think you will get off as lucky next time. Besides, I need your and Ron's help, I have an idea." Ron looked up, eager to hear what she had to say. This was going to be a wonderful surprise Hermoine had in mind. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX By mid-day, most of the staff were involved with Hermoine's surprise. Dumbledore seemed to be the most excited, humming wherever he went as he did his tasks. McGonagall, too, was busy, she apparaited to Diagon Alley to do some major shopping along with Professor Lupin and Hagrid. Even Draco got involved, he knew what Snape liked and disliked and gave instructions to McGonagall for her shopping. The hardest part was keeping Snape out of it. Leave that to Hermoine. She busied Snape with filling his storage cuboard, thinking she might as well since she lied about it the day before. Searching through the old cupboard, she came across several vials of a swirling violet liquid. They almost seemed to glow. She carefully took one out and showed it to Snape. "What is this for Professor?" she couldn't help but ask. "It's a rare antidote to an even rarer disease. Be careful, those are the only known vials of it in existance." he retorted. "For what disease? It sounds fascinating." she said as she placed the vial back in it's home. He looked through an old book labeled "Ancient curses and diseases" and found the entry. "It's the cure for the Yellow Pock-a-maroo. The disease is spread through a curse. It causes painfull yellow boils all over your skin and prevents you from using magic. It must be cured within a few hours of contracting it or horrible side effects can occur, even loss of magic permanently. So far, I've been the only one able to create a successful antidote." he said as Hermoine scanned the page. "May I borrow that book for some light reading later?" she politely asked. Not wanting to supress her innate curiosity, he nodded. She tucked the book away in her backpack and continued restocking. "Excuse me for a moment, I need to fetch something." he said as he walked out for a few minutes. Crabbe and Goyle busied themselves with cleaning out an empty room beside Snape's own bedroom. They made sure the area was sparkling when Snape, hearing the noise, walked in. "What are you two doing in this room? It is off limits." he scowled. "Headmaster Dumbledore wanted us to clean it out, along with any empty rooms in the Slytherin wing," Goyle managed to say. It was a good lie, and Snape fell for it. "Very well, but make sure it is spotless, I have future plans for this room," he replied. "And where is Mr. Malfoy, causing trouble for Potter I expect." Crabbe and Goyle nodded dumbly. Snape left the room, robes gracefully flowing behind. It was a close call, but they soon finished it, waiting for Harry and Ron to come in, it was their turn for hard work. Hermoine had to make sure that Snape would go no where near his private quarters again. It was very difficult, but she managed to find simple tasks to keep Snape busy. He appreciated the help she was giving so much that he had the house elves make a wonderful lunch for them to share. Hermoine's surprise was going according to plan. McGonagall, Lupin, and Hagrid returned, with some rather large boxes. Harry and Ron were already in the empty room when Hagrid strode in with box after box. They busied themselves with putting the furniture together, and Ron's sister Ginny came in to help with the decorations. Soon, the empty room turned into a wonderful nursery for the twins. There was a large crib, big enough for both infants in one corner. A table holding a small harp playing and a lamp sat near the wardrobe. There was also a well stocked changing table and a rocking chair across the room. A beautiful turkish rug covered the hard wood floor. Throughout the room was a mural of Hogwarts castle and the surrounding countryside, changing constantly as it was enchanted to imitate real life. All the furniture was a deep cherry wood, polished until they shined. The blankets, bedsheets and other linens where a fine ivory color. Hanging up in the wardrobe was a large collection of clothes, all in a "change your own color" scheme. It was perfect, Hermoine thought as she gave one final overlook at the room. Snape will definatly be surprised. She ran to go get the pregnant professor. She had him close his eyes as she led him to the room. Harry, Ron, McGonagall, Dumbledore, Lupin and Draco stood there, waiting for him. When he was finally allowed to open his eyes, there was a loud "Surprise!" from everyone. Snape stood shocked. After a moment he found his voice. "Is this what you had me so damn busy for?" He shot a look at Hermoine. She smiled proudly. He walked throughout the room, running his hand over the fine wood grain of the crib, then stopping to listen to the harp playing. "Who did all this?" "Well Severus," began Dumbledore. "It was Miss Granger's idea. Most of the staff pitched in the money. Mr. Potter and Mr. Weasley did the building and decorations. And Minerva here did the shopping, under Mr. Malfoy's direction. We all did a little bit to make this possible for you. We figured it would be a nice alternative to a baby shower since you don't like all the attention." "Twenty points to Gryffindor for the hard work." Snape said. Harry smiled, it was the first time he actually gained points from Snape, instead of losing them. "And ten points to Mr. Malfoy for the color scheme. I do like cherry." Now Draco smiled. A wave of nausea came over Snape. He sat in the rocking chair to relax. It had been a long day. "I think we should leave our professor to take in everything about his new nursery," said Dumbledore. They all left, except Hermoine. She closed the door to make sure no one would hear. "I'm glad you like it. I was thinking that the children should stay here at Hogwarts during next year. I will be in classes, but it will still give me the chance to see them." she said. "I had already planned that Hermoine." He said her name for the first time. It sounded sweet coming from his lips. "I had intended to clean and decorate this room on my own, but this seemed to work out nicely. I also plan to rearrange my office as sort of a playroom so I can keep an eye on them while teaching classes. But that will come later." He reached out and ran his fingers through Hermoine's soft hair. "It's hard for me to say this. I have developed...feelings...toward you as of lately. While I know there are strict rules against student-teacher relationships, I still want to be able to...court you properly. Would you..." he stopped. Of all times, Snape couln't seem to gather the courage to finish. "Be your girlfriend?" she asked quietly. He made a small nod. Tears began to well up in her eyes. "I thought I was loosing my mind when I first realized that I cared for you, now I know it's mutual. I would be honored to be your girlfriend!" Snape could only grin. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX As the next few weeks passed, Snape noticed that with the increasing weight of the growing children inside him, his back began to hurt. He also noticed that even mundane tasks were becoming increasingly difficult for him. And whenever Hermoine was not with him, Lupin was. Damn that werewolf! Although he was grateful for the extra set of hands, he knew Lupin couldn't keep his nose out of things. He could only hope that Lupin wasn't catching onto the fact that him and Hermoine were in a relationship now. Luckily, Harry and Ron hadn't yet either. Hermoine was careful to make sure of that. It was a late Sunday morning. Nowadays, Snape liked to sleep in as much as possible since he seemed to be tired all the time. He had just turned the soothing hot water off in the shower and grabbed a nearby towel to dry himself off, when Lupin came in with a steaming bowl of oatmeal. "Morning Severus. You didn't show up to breakfast so I thought I would bring breakfast to you." Lupin said cheerfully. "Oatmeal again? Is this some type of torture?" Snape whined. He was letting his hormones lose control again. Breath, he said to himself, regaining his composure. "Yes, well, oatmeal has vital nutrients for the babies." said Lupin. After Snape got himself dressed, he picked up the bowl and spoon and started eating slowly. "Besides, Hermoine wanted to take you out today to get some fresh air. She figured a trip to London would be nice." "What would be nice is if I don't have to eat this bloody mush." replied Snape. Lupin chuckled. Finishing the oatmeal, Snape set the bowl down and left the room to find Hermoine. She was in the Gryffindor common room when she heard him knocking. Opening the painting, she walked out. "Ready to go?" she asked politely. "Where exactly are we going in London?" Snape questioned. "You will see," Hermoine answered with a smile. The two of them headed to a fireplace in a nearby study room and gathered a handful of floo powder. Stepping inside the fireplace, she said loudly, "Leaky Cauldron!" and threw her floo powder down at her feet. With a puff of smoke, she disappeared from Hogwarts and arrived at the shabby inn. Snape appeared right behind her. Bundling her coat up, she led him outside and down the streets of London. It was rare for Snape to be among muggles, but Hermoine had assured him they wouldn't take a second glance at him. True enough, they didn't. Snape and Hermoine decided to do some shopping while they were here. Several shops and a couple hours later, he announced that he was hungry. "What is there to eat around this odd place?" he asked. "Ever have pizza?" Hermoine brightened. Snape shook his head. What is pizza? He silently wondered. She led him to a brightly colored building. Inside smells of tomato sauce and bread filled their noses. Snape sat down while Hermoine ordered. A few minutes later, a waiter came to their table carrying a large round pan holding a piping hot pizza. "Eat up!" she said. Snape picked at it for a moment with a fork, then saw how Hermoine held her slice to eat it. He akwardly copied. "Interesting muggle food. I'll have to learn how to make it." he commented. "Glad you like it." After pizza, the two made their way back to the Leaky Cauldron with their hands full of shopping bags and their pockets considerably lighter. Flooing back to Hogwarts, Lupin was there to meet them in the study room. "Have a good time Severus?" he smiled, noticing the bags hanging from Snape's arms. "I have found some ingredients from a muggle herb shop to study. But for now, I need rest, my legs are sore from walking," he replied. Lupin offered to take his bags and walked him down towards his room. "I'll see you later Professer Snape, I need to finish my homework anyways." said Hermoine. Gathering her bags, she went off to find Harry and Ron. She found them in the Gryffindor common room, leaning over their schoolbooks. Ron looked up. "Just in time Hermoine! We need a little help here with our Defense against the Dark Arts homework. Hey, what you got in the bags?" Hermoine opened one of the two bags, it contained mostly books and items that only she could love. She set it down. Opening the other bag, she pulled out a box of gum drops and some novelty toys. "Well, for your dad, I bought this rubber duck," she handed it to Ron, who had an awed look on his face. "And for you guys, I bought some candy and trinkets." Between the blowing bubbles and shooting each other with rubber band guns, they managed to get some study time in. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX It was the middle of the night. A seven month pregnant Snape woke with a start. His arm was burning. That only meant one thing, he was being summoned by Lord Voldemort. Instantly he tapped his hand, causing Hermoine's ring to activate. Then he heard the voice in his head. "Go to the portkey in your classroom." He had to obey. Slowly, he got up and threw his outer robe on. Then he started making his way to his potions classroom. Hermoine was sure she felt the ring, when she looked at it, it was more red than she had ever seen. Something was definatly wrong. She knew that she was not allowed into the Snape's private quarters, so she raced instead to his classroom, hoping there was a chance he was there. She found him along the way. He was clutching the arm that held the dark mark. "I am being summoned," said grimly. "No, you can't go, Severus, think of the twins, He will kill them!" she sobbed quietly as she followed him. "I have no choice, I must go," he replied flatly. "I won't let you, not without me. I may be able to help you!" she said, trying to find a way out of his predicament. A thought came to him. A while back, Hermoine had borrowed that book on rarecurses. She may indeed be able to help. "You may come, but do not be seen. And remember what you've read." Snape's words were like ice. Hermoine gave him a nod. Deep down, Snape was afraid. Afraid for Hermoine, and afraid for their children. But when the Dark Lord summoned, you answered. Holding hands, they walked into the classroom. There lay an empty jar on one of the desks. Snape and Hermoine grabbed the jar at the same time. They were sucked into a mixture of swirling light, it made Snape's head spin. When it was over, they lay on soft grass. They were outside, but where? Snape looked around. It was the Malfoy's garden. He recognized the statues and fine decor. Hermoine quickly dove behind a large bush nearby. Lucius Malfoy walked over to him, his eyes laying on the large bulge under Snape's robes. "Well well Severus, so THIS is what you have been hiding. Let's see what our Dark Lord has to say about it." he grabbed Snapes arm and led him over to the others, who began to appear. Soon, a small ring of Death Eaters circled Snape. Among them was Lord Voldemort. "Interesting Severus. You seemed to have either let yourself go on the whiskey, or you've gotten yourself knocked up. Tell me, who is your lover?" Voldemort sneered wickedly. "None of your damn business," said Snape. "I am here for your bidding, what do you want?" "Since you are in no condition for the task I was going to assign you, I have another idea. I want your child when it is born. It will grow to become a powerful follower of mine," said Voldemort. The other Death Eaters were snickering under their hoods. "The twins belong to myself and myself only," hissed Snape. "Fool, you are MY property, and so are the children you carry!" Voldemort was becoming angry. "I will ask you again to hand over those children when they are born." "Go to hell my Lord," spat Snape. You will pay for your defiance! CRUCIO!" Voldemort shrieked in anger. Snape doubled over, screaming in pain and clutching his chest. Voldemort seemed to take great joy in inflicting pain on Snape. The way Snape thrashed about wildly seemed to satisfy him to no extent. Hermoine had been watching from her hiding spot. It was more than she could bare, she couldn't just sit there and let Snape and her children suffer. She had to think fast. Snape said to remember what she had read. What was that supposed to mean? Then it hit her, the disease called the Yellow Pock-a-maroo. It was spread through a curse. What was the incantation for the curse again? She searched her mind and finally it came to her. She drilled the incantation over and over in her head until she was sure she had the pronunciation right. She stood up. Lucius Malfoy turned around and saw her. "Well well, look what we have!" he grabbed Hermoine and dragged her over to Voldemort. "Looks like we found your little mudblood pet, Severus. What shall we do with her my Lord?" Lucius sneered, looking up at Voldemort. "Do what you like with her, I don't care," said Voldemort, his attention still on Snape. The Death Eaters began to circle her. Hermoine had to do something, she didn't want to end up like Snape. They were getting closer, Lucius was already beginning to unbutton his robes, smacking his lips greedily. He seemed to want for the others to do the same. She looked at them, all of them were becoming aroused. The she knew what was going on, they intended to rape her. "No! Please!" she tried to scream, but no words came out of her mouth. "You have no way out mudblood, we will take you for our own. And when we are done, so will be your life." they hissed at her. It was sickening. Suddenly Hermoine saw her chance. Lucius had been so busy undoing his robes that her hands were free. Pulling out her wand, she screamed the incantation and a grey cloud spewed from its tip. The Death Eaters stood there for a moment, then Lucius started to scratch his arm. As he scratched, large yellow boils surfaced where he was scratching. The other Death Eaters were breaking out into boils as well. So was Voldemort himself. And unfortunatly, Snape. At least he wasn't being tortured any longer. "Professor, we have to go," she said. While the Death Eaters and Voldemort were beginning to wail in agony over the painful boils that suddenly appeared all over their bodies, Hermoine managed to drag Snape back to the portkey and grabbed hold of it. Woosh. They both landed on the floor of the potions class with a thud. Hermoine looked at Snape. He was covered in yellow boils and unconcious, his breath came as short wheezes. Thinking quickly, she ran to the cupboard and found the antidote. She opened Snape's mouth and poured the sweet smelling liquid down his throat. "Please be ok, please." she was crying. Never in her life did she want anything more than to see Snape wake up. Just then Mr. Filch was making his rounds through the castle and spotted Hermoine leaning over an unconcious Snape. "Why are you out this late, you know the rules. And what have you done to the professor this time?" Hexed him? Cursed him?" he growled. Filch always thought the worst of students. "Mr. Filch," she managed without screaming, "Go get Dumbledore, it's an emergency! Professor Snape might be dying!" Filch understood the urgency and quickly went to find the headmaster. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX The potion Hermoine gave him had already started to work. The boils on his skin were slowly fading. When Dumbledore rushed in with Lupin and McGonagall, they found her holding Snape's limp hand and crying. "Remus, get him to the hospitol immediatly. Minerva, run ahead and let Poppy know of the situation." Dumbledore looked at a hysterical Hermoine. "What happened child?" he asked gently. Hermoine gave him every detail about the Death Eaters, Voldemort, and what she had done. While Dumbledore congratulated Hermoine on her quick thinking, he knew that she, like Harry, was in danger if Voldemort ever caught her. But this was no time for worrying about that. Hermoine had saved not one, but three lives that night. "Come, let's go meet up with Professor Snape." Dumbledore helped Hermoine back on her feet and together they walked to the hospitol to see if Snape and the babies were alright. Snape had lay unconcious in his hospitol bed for days. The Yellow Pock-a-maroo had long been cured, but the crutacios curse had taken a lot out of him. Madam Pomfrey assured Hermoine that the twins were going to make it, which cheered her up a bit. But she still was afraid for Snape. She refused to leave his side, even to go to her classes. "I won't leave until I know he's ok," was all she would say when anyone asked. Dumbledore had noticed her insistant ways. He sat down beside her. "I thought you had no feelings for Professor Snape," he softly said. Hermoine looked up at him, taken back. "I...I didn't think I did either at first, but I realized as time went by that I did," she began while holding Snape's slender hand. "He is carrying my children, and I want what is best for them. They will need a mother, even if I am only sixteen. Severus and I have been seeing each other since Valentine's day. I don't care if I get expelled, I only want him to be alright." She felt so alone at that moment. "There there, child," said Dumbledore as he lay a gentle hand on her shoulder. "I understand your situation, and agree that the children will need a mother in their lives. I will let you both continue your relationship together. However, I will ask you to behave as if were not seeing each other when in public. He is still your teacher and elder, and should be treated as such. Since your parents are muggles, I will not require you to inform them, that will be your own desision to make." Hermoine smiled in understanding. Lupin, whom had heard most of the conversation chimed in. "Honestly Hermoine, you are the best thing that has ever happened to Severus. His past is filled with a lot of pain, and it's good to know that you make him happy, more than I've ever seen him. Your secret is safe with me." He walked out of the room, not wanting to continue the conversation. "Mmm..." Snape moaned. He opened his eyes. "What...happened...are the twins...alright?" He lay his free hand on his stomach, desparate to detect some sign of life inside him. A tiny kick responded. He sighed with relief. Hermoine flung her arms around him, weeping with joy. "Oh Severus, I'm so glad you and the babies are alright! You had me so scared." She said with relief. Snape returned her hug. Dumbledore stood up. "I see you two need to be alone. I will be back later to check on you Severus." With that, Dumbledore winked at Snape and strode out of the room. "What was that all about?" Snape asked. "Does he know?" Hermoine nodded. "Is he going to expell you and sack me for it?" She shook her head in answer and grinned. Then he noticed that he had gained quite a few get well cards and presents while he was there. "How long have I been here?" "Three days, and Madam Pomfrey said that you will need to stay another couple days to make sure you and the babies are doing ok," Hermoine said. Harry walked in. "Hermoine, is he awake?" asked Harry. Snape shot him a look. "I um...want to talk to you for a second," he stuttered. Hermoine stood up and walked over to Harry. "I just wanted to say that it must have been scary for you to face Lord Voldemort. I mean, now I know I'm not alone, you have seen him too." Hermoie smiled. "Thanks Harry, I appreciate it. I was so scared there, but I knew I had to do something, I couldn't let Professor Snape get hurt, not in his condition." "Better you this time than me," said Harry. "I have had enough of Lord Voldemort to last me a hundred lifetimes. If you ever need to talk about it, just let me know." Hermoine nodded. "I better get going, Ron and I need to get some study time in. Without you it is going to take longer. Later Hermoine. And good to see you getting better Professor Snape." Snape nodded in response. Harry left the room. "Well," said Hermoine once they were alone. "I have been neglecting my studies as well, I need to prepare for my final exams that are coming up. Dumbledore is having me finish my classes early so I can assist you full time while you teach." She bent over and whispered in his ear. "I will see you later my love." My love, thought Snape. She called me her love. He cracked a weak smile at her and fell back asleep. Hermoine was an instant celebrity. For the next few days, students and teachers alike asked her what happened during her encounter. Fortunately, she had Harry and Ron to lean on. Harry would help her talk to everyone, as he was used to it by now. Ron made sure that when she wanted to get away from it all, she could. And the times she wasn't being bombarded with questions, she was with Snape. Within a week, Snape was back back on his feet and teaching. After his incident with the Dark Lord, he seemed to be in a more foul mood than usual, and took it out on every one of his classes. And with the continued kicking and rolling from inside him, it seemed to make things worse. He was miserable, but had told Dumbledore that he refused to go on maternity leave. He would rather work right up to the due date than to have someone inferior take over his position. Most of the time he was teaching, he would sit at his desk in the front of the classroom and direct from there. On occaision, he would have Hermoine, whom essentially finished her sixth year two months early, walk around the class to make sure students were preparing their potions correctly or busy writing on their parchments. With her classes finished for the year, Hermoine spent a lot more time reading up on wizarding labor and how to care for newborns under Madam Pomfrey's supervision. She knew Snape would need to have someone show him how to take care of the twins. How she longed to be with him, how wonderful it would be to share their lives together. Alas, she would have to wait until she was eighteen and out of school first. She would wait though, she had time. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX It was late Saturday morning in late May and the flowers were in full bloom. Hermoine was out on a walk in the fresh air with Harry and Ron while Snape was busy correcting papers. The little time she had away from her dear Snape she spent with her friends. It was felt good to be outside. Ron and Harry were talking about the latest professional Quiddich match while she listened. "Blimey, can you believe Krum pulled that one off? It was brilliant!" exclaimed Ron. "Too right Ron, I need to learn that move for next year." Harry replied. "Hey Hermoine, your ring is glowing red." he made an off comment. She looked down, sure enough, the warning came clear as the day. "Snape's in trouble, come on!" she shouted. The three of them ran to Snape's office. He was laying on his couch, hugging his very swollen belly, obviously in pain. "About time you show up," he groaned. "I have been having these false contractions since before the crack of dawn. At first they didn't bother me, but now as you can see, it is making it quite difficult to do my work." "Professor," started Ron, "I think you're in labor! Mum had that same look on her face when she was in labor with Ginny. We need to get you to Madam Pomfrey." The three of them helped Snape up to his feet. "Nonsense Mr. Weasley, my due date isn't until mid June, That's not for another three weeks." "Sir, the due date is never exact, especially with twins. It's rarer to be born on your due date than it is to not. You need to get to the hospitol," said Hermione urgently. Snape had another contraction, making him double over and scream. "Come on Professor, we will help you. WINGARDIEM LEVIOSA!" Snape hovered in a lying position a few feet off the ground. "This way you won't have to walk, we can levitate you there." Snape cursed to himself, and the four of them quickly made their way to see Pomfrey. Pomfrey blinked as she saw the three students levitating the professor into the hospitol. "Severus, you should have been here hours ago. I can only hope that the twins haven't caused any internal damage." Pomfrey looked him over, first checking vitals then examining the twins. "You have suffered some internal bleeding. Harry, Ron, I will have to ask you to leave. Hermoine may stay as she has done her medical homework like I asked." Harry and Ron left, wishing Snape well. He was too much in pain to reply. "What the bloody hell is happening to me!" yelled Snape. "You had better hope...AAAAHHHHHH!" Another contraction hit him, causing him to swear like a hardened sailor. Pomfrey brushed it off, "Lie still, you will only hurt youself more." She rubbed a sweet smelling oil over his extremely large belly. The pain had lessened. Snape could still feel the contractions, but at least he was able to breath. "Now comes the hard part." She rolled up her sleeves and using her wand, started to make a small incision below his navel. The minutes dragged by as Pomfrey worked. "Hermoine, do you have the blankets ready?" She nodded. "Good, can you hand me a warm towel?" Snape was desparatly trying to see what was going on, but because he couldn't see over his mountain of an abdomen, it frustrated him. "Woman, what in Merlin's name are you doing, no doubt mangling my body in the worst ways imaginable!" he snapped. "Nonsense Severus, I must do this carefully or the babies could get hurt. Now if you mind, I need quiet," she huffed. After what seemed to take forever, he heard a small cry and Pomfrey's voice. "It's a girl! Cut the cord and clean this one up while I pull the other out." Hermoine cut the umbilical cord, separating father and child. She then gently cast a cleansing charm and wrapped the tiny bundle up. She handed the baby to Snape. "It's a girl, Severus, a girl!" Snape's eyes welled up in tears. Here was his daughter, alive in his arms. "Here comes the other one," said Pomfrey. Another small cry burst out. "Congratulations, you have identical twin girls! Now Severus, you need to hold very still, I need to get this bleeding stopped." Snape, for the first time in years, cried. Hermoine handed him the other baby and kissed him on the forhead. "You're a father now Severus. And I'm a mother. I can't believe it. What are their names?" "The first one is Morgana, and the other Sabrina. Do you like them?" he asked, squinting in pain as Pomfrey finished and was sewing him back up. "Yes, they are perfect names," she said as she looked down at them. The twins both had dark wispy hair and fair skin. "They look just like you Severus." He smiled and handed them over to Hermoine. She cradled them in her arms while Dumbledore came back in. "Ahh, twin girls. Life is once again renewed. Hermoine, you have some very eager friends outside, shall I let them in?" Hermoine nodded. Harry, Ron, and Lupin came in. "They are so small. And so beautiful." commented Harry. "Who will be their godparent?" "I was actually going to ask you to be, Mr. Potter. You seem to be the ideal choice." said Snape. Ron's jaw dropped to the floor. "Really? Thank you Professor Snape, thank you!" Harry could barely contain his emotions. "Well Severus, it must be glad to get that over with," Lupin winked. "The twins are absolutely adorable." Severus made a slight nod. Then Dumbledore spoke. "I want you to let Professor Snape rest now, he's had a hard labor. It looks like I have an announcement to make to the students. And Severus, congratulations on fatherhood." Dumbledore once again left the room. "I will see you later Severus. Rest well." She stroked the twins heads. Then she quietly left with her friends. Snape was snoozing within minutes, while Pomfrey busied herself caring for the newest editions. Dumbledore had made the announcement during that lunch. Everyone wanted to come and visit Snape and see the new twins. Professor Lupin had the twins sleep in a double bassinet in another room and allowed other students to see them a few at a time. Hermoine stayed at Snape's side as teachers and students congratulated him. It wasn't long before Rita Skeeter from the Daily Prophet stopped by to take a few pictures and interview the new father. Luckily, Snape had no intention on letting her or anyone else know that Hermoine was the mother. By the end of the day, Snape was exausted. Hermoine had been helping take care of him, and the twins asleep in the bassinet that had been placed nearby them. She sat there beside him, stroking his soft hair. "Hard to believe that those beautiful little girls were inside me. I'm glad that you made me go through with this. Thank you Hermoine." he said softly. Hermoine blushed. "I can only hope that I will be able to see them this summer. I told my parents only that I had a boyfriend, they have no idea it's my potions teacher. But they said that if I wanted to visit you I can." Snape grinned. "I had been meaning to ask you something," Snape said. "I realize it's quite sudden and I don't expect an immediate answer. But would you...marry me?" Snape handed Hermoine a small velvet box that was on the nightstand. Inside was the most beautiful white gold ring with a large diamond flanked by two small emeralds. Hermoine began to tear. "Yes! Oh Severus yes!" she said wiping the tears from her cheeks. "Once I turn eighteen we will get married, I promise!" Snape placed the ring on her delicate finger and kissed her. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX A year and a half later, it was Christmas break. Hermoine had just turned eighteen that November and was busy having her hair done by Mrs. Weasley. "I can't believe I'm actually getting married, I've been waiting for this day forever it seems like. I hope I don't do anything wrong." commented a nervous Hermoine. "Nonsense dear, you look absolutely beautiful, and so do the girls," said Molly. Hermoine looked down at her twin daughters. Each of them was wearing a lavender dress that reflected Hermoine's own white wedding gown. Their raven black hair was pulled up in a bow and curled into gorgeous ringlets. Molly had finished and gently placed a sparkling tiara on Hermoine's head, then pinned the veil directly behind it. Hermoine looked into the mirror. "It's perfect, thank you." Hermoine said. "Well, I better call for Ginny, you don't want your maid of honor to be unfinished." said Molly. She went off to find her daughter. Ginny was found putting the finishing touches of her make up on. "Are you ready?" asked Molly. Ginny nodded. "Good, we have a wedding to start." Everything was ready. The great hall at Hogwarts had been magically transformed for the wedding. The staff spared no expense in making sure it looked stunning. Overhead, the ceiling was enchanted to look like it was snowing. Severus stood in his place in front of the room in his best tuxedo robes. To his left, Ron stood, being chosen as the best man, as well as the other groomsmen. The wedding minister, none other than Dumbledore himself, was standing in the middle behind his podium. "It's almost time to begin," he said, as he noticed sweat beading on the groom's brow. Guests were seated and quieting down as the music began. First came Ginny and the other bridesmaids. Then came Harry, whom was leading the adorable twin girls down the aisle, each throwing small flowers in their path. As the music stopped, Hermoine appeared in the back of the great hall. With her veil flowing behind her and her wedding dress glowing, she looked like an angel. Snape was close to tears she was so beautiful. Hermoine made her way gracefully to her place at the front of the great hall, holding a bouquet of white roses. Dumbledore started speaking. The two lovers were both hardly listening, instead concentrating on each other. They looked away from each other only to aknowledge and repeat their lines. "Do you have the rings?" asked Dumbledore. Ginny and Ron gave them each a white gold wedding band with delicately carved ivy leaves. Hermoine and Severus placed them on each other's hand. "By the magic within me, I now pronounce you Mr. and Mrs. Severus Snape. You may kiss the bride." said Dumbledore triumphantly. This was the part they were waiting for. Severus gently lifted Hermoine's veil and gave her a picture perfect kiss. Everyone stood up and cheered. The reception was wonderful. There was an exquisite meal of roast duck, followed by a coconut flavored wedding cake. Afterwards, Hermoine threw her bouquet into a crowd of women. Ginny caught them, grinning with pride. Severus slid Hermoine's garter off and tossed it into the crowd of men. It landed on Draco's head. "That would make an interesting pair." snickered Severus. Music started playing and the newlyweds were the first on the dance floor, holding each other romantically. As Hermoine and Severus were dancing, Harry walked up to them with Ginny, sporting the biggest grin on his face. Hermoine gave a confused look. "I wanted to tell you the news first." Harry said. He held up Ginny's hand. On it was a gold ring with a large solitare diamond. "We're getting married." He beamed. "That's wonderful Harry, I'm so happy for you!" she said excitedly. "Congratulations," said Severus with a bow. Finally, with the reception over, Her and her new husband changed into muggle clothes and apparaited to the London airport with their bags. As they boarded, Hermoine was worried about the twins. "They will be in good hands. Molly Weasly has kindly offered to care for them while we enjoy ourselves." Severus reassured her. "Besides, I've never been to this Maui place, what is it like?" Hermoine smiled as they boarded the airplane. They settled into their private motel and took a long walk on the beach. As the sun slowly went down, it turned the entire skies an enchanting mix of reds and oranges. Severus had never been so happy in his life. He noticed that they were alone on the beach. He layed his towel down on the fine sand. Him and Hermoine lay down on top of it and made passionate love with each other while the waves flowed gently over their feet. It was a night to remember. It was late January and Snape was busy examining the potions from his latest class. His daughters were busy playing at his feet. A knock came on the door. "Come in." he said. Hermoine walked in. The twins looked up at their mother and squealed "Mama! mama!" in unison. She bent down and hugged them. Then Hermoine embraced her husband. She had been attending Ravenwing Wizarding College of Wales, one of the best magical colleges in the world. She was to become a new teacher at Hogwarts within a couple years. Every evening, she would floo to Hogwarts to spend her nights with Snape and her daughters. "How was your day Sev?" she asked. "The usual insolent students whom can't boil water," he growled. "How were your classes?" "Not bad today, I've got a lot of homework to do." She stopped and looked at him, almost in disbelief. "It's hard to believe we have been married for a month now. It seems like yesterday the girls were born." "They grow fast," he said as he patted one on the twin's heads affectionatly. He looked into her eyes. They were different somehow. "Is everything alright?" he asked as he stood up. "Yes, everything is fine. I did, however, recieve a late wedding present this morning," she replied. "Well, did you open it? What was it?" curiosity was taking over. Hermoine slowly reached in the folds of her robes and pulled out a small corked flask filled with a bright blue mixture. She set it down on the table in front of him. The last time Snape saw that liquid, he was horrified. This time his heart leapt for joy. Hermoine was pregnant. The End
