Challenge #54. Sirius was the only person, besides Snape, who knew
that Severus was pregnant when he sent him to the Shrieking Shack.
Why did he send him and/or what did Severus do afterwards? (Submitted
by Kerguelen)
Sirius stood nervously by the window. Waiting. Watching and waiting
for it to happen. Waiting for Severus to appear. Waiting for Severus
to walk into his certain death. His and that… that _thing’s_
he carried.
The Gryffindor had been petrified when he first heard the news from
his secret lover.
Severus was pregnant.
By him.
Never in his entire life had Sirius been this afraid. He did not
want to be a father yet. And he surely did not wish for Severus to
be the *mother* of his children.
Severus had not wanted to listen to his arguments and didn’t
even consider an abortion.
He’d given Sirius no other choice.
Under the pretext of wanting to reconcile he’d lured Severus
to the Whomping Willow and the secret entrance beneath it, which
would lead the Slytherin to the Shrieking Shack and ultimately the
werewolf held there.
The gleaming full moon shrouded the small figure of a boy in shadows,
as he walked over the grounds far beneath Gryffindor tower, with
Sirius’ eyes following his progress.
*****
Everything had gone wrong.
He never had thought about the consequences of his actions. Never
thought of Remus.
And never thought that Severus would live to see the next morning.
But he had.
Sirius' world lay in shards.
He was sure he would be expelled, at least, if not directly send
to Azkaban.
*****
He had not been expelled. He couldn’t believe it. Yes, he had
gotten a month worth of detention and lost housepoints, but he was
still a student of Hogwarts'.
It probably would take some time until Remus and James would talk
to him again, but at least he had the chance to make it happen. And
Severus had had a miscarriage.
There would be no squalling infant to remind him of their sordid
affair, no child demanding his attention and stealing his freedom.
Sirius nearly laughed.
Yes, life was good.
But then a hand gripped him tightly by the throat and he was dragged
into a dark corner where an enraged Severus Snape pressed him against
the wall. “Damn you, Black. Do you know what you’ve done?
What you have damned me to?” Sirius nearly couldn’t believe
it, but it really seemed as if the git had tears in his eyes. “You
have robbed me of my only chance at freedom and happiness. My only
reason to escape the darkness.”
With slight guilt Sirius remembered Severus' homelife. He knew what
awaited the boy every summer. But Severus wasn’t quite finished
yet. “Damn you, Black. Damn you to hell and back for what you
have done to me and my child. May you suffer as much as I will.” With
a final shove Severus let go off him and walked away.
And Sirius felt cold, so cold.
With Severus' final words he’d felt the magic bonds of the
Slytherins curse settle around him, stealing his breath and making
him shudder.
