“Severus, stop worrying. Everything will be all right. I just need to visit Mr. Weasley at the Ministry of Magic tomorrow morning and I will be home before you can miss me.” Harry raised up on tiptoe and kissed his bondmate. “I can’t help but worry, Harry. I still think that Voldemort is trapped in the Ministry building and they want you to go kill him for them.” Severus was not being placated with anything Harry had to say and was having none of his excuses. “Sev, of course Voldemort is trapped in the Ministry Building. He is not causing any more problems though. Dumbledore was there with me when we cast the spell to destroy Voldemort’s body and then we sealed his spirit in a Merlin stone. For good measure we even took the stone upstairs to the Veil of Mysteries and threw it through the Veil.” “I know that you think you got rid of Voldemort. But, there is something wrong.” Severus was adamant. “I will not let you go to the Ministry by yourself. Either I get to come with you or you will not go at all tomorrow.” “Sev, I don’t really want you out where people can see you. I am afraid that they will try to kill you.” Harry unconsciously rubbed Severus’s slightly bulging belly lightly. “I am so excited about our baby. I wish I did not have to wait another three months to see him.” Severus smiled ruefully and snarked, “I wish it were you carrying him around for the next three months.” Harry could not help the grin as he looked up at Severus. “You must admit you are the better choice for carrying a baby. After all, all the books I have read on the subject say that the stronger wizard of the two will be the mother. You are also better physically equipped than I am. More room for the little guy to spread out.” He ran a hand up Sev’s chest as he said it knowing full well that it always excited Severus when Harry caressed his chest before wrapping his hands around his neck and pulling his head down to be greeted with a kiss. Sev shook his head in disbelief. “The only reason I’m pregnant instead of you is you took advantage of me while you were feeling poorly and I was dumb enough to let you.” Harry grinned unrepentantly. “Well we did toss a coin to see which one of us would drink the potion we were thinking about brewing. You did lose. Serves you right that you did not get out of it.” “You probably brewed that potion before you mentioned it to me then sneaked it into my butterbeer when I was so intoxicated I would have thought dragon piss was champagne.” Harry could not help the snicker that slipped out. “I don’t know how many times I have warned you not to drink so much. But, do you ever listen? No!” “You don’t listen either Brat. And, one of these days they will be carrying you home in a wizard’s byre. I do not want that to happen anytime soon. Please, will you take care when you are at the Ministry tomorrow?” Harry could not overlook the care and concern that Sev was displaying. His own love for Sev was an overwhelming sensation that bordered on obsession. Cocking his head slightly as he looked up once again at the taller man he reiterated, “I will always love you. I will find a way to stay with you until the sands of time run out. This is my wizards promise to you mate of my soul.” The two of them finally snuggled down in bed and sought their much- needed rest. Severus, being the loving man he was, cuddled up with his slightly protruding stomach nestled against Harry’s back so that the little one could kick both his fathers. The sensation of Ewan Draco Potter-Snape kicking him and Sev’s soft breath gently steaming his neck soon had Harry dreaming of domestic tranquility. “You will be careful today.” Severus reminded him one last time. “Sev, please, we have been over this several times already. If there is something you know about today that you are not telling me, just spill it. I would rather know if you have had a vision or some bad omen, OK?” Severus shook his head in a negative indication. “No, Harry I have not had any visions. I just don’t like this idea. It feels wrong to me. I even got up in the middle of the night to go check some of my reference books that discuss Merlin stones.” “What did the books say?” Harry almost snapped as his eyes flashed green fire. Severus knew better than to lie just so he would stay at home. “All three books mentioned that the stones power can be activated by a beings desire to love and serve another. All the historical documents refer to Merlin stones as indestructible and incapable of harboring evil. That is the major reason I think Voldemort can still be there. The stone will have rejected him by now and he could well have found a way to escape from the veil.” Severus could tell by the way Harry looked at him that although the information unnerved him slightly he was still going to do what he felt he had to. Harry’s words confirmed it. “OK. I can respect that but I still have to go. I will do my best to take care. Never doubt that I love you and I will come back to you this evening.” Harry apparated to the Ministry of Magic building and started down the long hall toward the Minister’s office. He was genuinely worried about Sev’s paranoia and really did want to get this meeting with Fudge over with as soon as possible. Harry had never trusted Fudge and felt that as Minister he could be doing more to end the war than he was. With the Ministry’s help Voldemort could have been stopped months ago. Draco Malfoy showing up on the Potter-Snape doorstep was a singular shock to Severus. His first reaction when he saw him was to ask, “What in the bloody hell are you here for, Malfoy?” He received one of the patented Malfoy glares (learned from Draco’s esteemed late father) and snarled. “Obviously I came to see you. Arthur Weasley thought that I would be the best choice to talk to you. And, could we please go into the kitchen so you can poison me with your version of tea and biscuits? I find myself feeling extremely peckish.” Only then when he looked down at Draco’s middle did he realize he was carrying a rather larger bulge than he was. “Oh, you have been a busy boy haven’t you?” Severus smirked. Then seeing Draco’s beautiful face crumble he reached out and pulled him in against his side. “Come on. I have a pot of tea just made and biscuits fresh from the oven.” Draco sniffed delicately and looked up at him from misty blue eyes. “I really need to talk to you, Severus. There is a lot to discuss and I don’t know where to start.” “Start with why you happen to know where my house is since it is unplottable and Harry Potter, myself and Kingsley Shackelbolt are the only three who know this.” Onyx eyes watched him carefully as he shifted nervously. “You had better start talking, or pregnant or not, I am going to hex you into oblivion.” Draco glared at Severus. “Don’t try to make this any easier. OK?” Severus noticed that the snap in Draco’s voice just was not there. “Come on. You really are so tired that you are not yourself are you?” He did not expect the wild laughter that erupted from Draco. He held the door open and watched Draco toddle through to the kitchen without asking direction. He continued to watch in fascination as Draco put on the muggle kettle and went around the cabinets collecting the china and setting it out just like Harry always did for him. He could not contain his curiosity when Draco looked at him through his lashes and whispered throatily, “Do you want coffee, tea, or me?” “Where the bloody hell is Harry?” Severus hissed under his breath. “Why are you acting like him?” Came out slightly louder. Confusion and anxiety were written all over Severus as he stared at Draco like he had grown two heads since the last time they had seen each other. Draco finally sat down and reaching across the table to Severus he took his hand. “Severus, there is no easy way to say this so I am just going to jump into it and say whatever comes out of my mouth, OK?” Severus nodded. “OK!” “You might want to take a calming potion so that you do not hurt the baby.” “Do you think this discussion will warrant a calming potion?” “It might. I don’t want to take any chances with Ewan.” Severus got up and went into the bathroom. He came out with two small vials of potion. “Here, you might not want to risk your babies either.” Draco gave him a strange smile as they both took the caps off the vials and cheered each other before tipping the liquid into their mouths. They sat for a few minutes drinking tea and waiting for the potion to kick in. Severus finally began tapping his fingers gently on the table and nodded his head. “I am ready to listen to you now.” Draco looked up at him and started talking. “First of all, You need to know that I am really Harry Potter. Draco Malfoy’s spirit has passed on to the next dimension.” He stopped to let Severus assimilate that information. “You were right about the Merlin stones refusing to contain Voldemort’s evil spirit. When Draco, Ron and I went down to the room where the Veil is, his spirit was waiting. Severus could not repress the gasp that was forced from his lungs. “I knew I should not have let you go. This was probably Fudge’s doing.” He glared at Harry/Draco for a few seconds then ducked his head as the tears began to flow. His Harry had technically died! Draco’s voice was unsteady as he continued. The agony he had unwittingly inflicted on Severus was just now hitting him as he watched his beloved cry and knew he could not go to him until they had everything sorted. “The three of us together managed to obliviate him. In the process though, my body was damaged too badly to recover. I was floating around looking down at my body wondering how I was going to keep my promise to you on getting home tonight when I saw Malfoy’s ghost floating above his body also.” Severus looked back up at his mate. There was an odd questioning look in his eyes but Harry read it correctly. “Draco got hit by a curse that separated his spirit from his body and he was getting hysterical because he did not want his children to die. Anyway, to make a long story short, rather than let his children die he begged me to try and enter his body since he couldn’t. I was determined enough to come home tonight that I managed to do just that.” Severus stared wide-eyed at Harry/Draco. Tears poured down his face as he whispered , “Oh my gods! Harry, you really love me enough that you would go to such lengths to come back to me.” He could almost imagine the green glittering beneath the blue-gray of the eyes staring lovingly at him. “I love you enough to tolerate having someone else’s children just so I can stay with you.” It was Draco’s sexy drawl but the syntax was Harry’s. Severus shook his head. “This is going to take some getting used to. I realize you inhabit the body of a male who is almost identical to you physically, Harry, but you were not seven months pregnant when you walked out the door this morning.” Harry could not resist adding, “And I don’t have anything that will fit except this robe I have on.” “Don’t go there. You sound like a Malfoy when you talk thus.” ----------------------------------------------------------------------
